Luxury fashion brand Gucci kicked off Milan Fashion Week in a typical eccentric style with models carried replicas of their own heads on a runway transformed into a creepy operating room.
Male and female models walked onto a runway amid operating tables under bright neon lights in the Gucci Hub, the brand’s Milan headquarters, over the steady beeping of a heart monitoring machine.
Not only did some carry replicas of their own severed head, but others were adorned with a third eye, or even a baby dragon. However, designer Giorgio Armani wasn’t a fan.
Armani slammed Gucci for going ‘overboard’ with their latest runway collection. The veteran designer, 83, hit out at the fashion house for their controversial Autumn/Winter 2018 presentation last week.
“He insisted that it’s important not to go “overboard” with staging, but to let the clothes do the talking,” Armani stated.
Though he didn’t mention the brand, or creative director Alessandro Michele, by name, he said, “I don’t want to be a part of this. Fashion can’t be a means to have the media talk about you.
