First Topshop, now Net-a-porter.com, he of glorious sequin fame, Michael Halpern, is spreading his Studio 54 message far and wide for the 2018 party season. And while you might have to wait for the former to launch in November, the latter is available online from today.
Fingers at the ready, the Net-a-porter.com x Halpern capsule is as fabulous as you’d expect. Dramatic disco flares and a glitzy high-neck jumpsuit both feature in the eight-piece edit, which ticks off both rainbow ombrés and black paillettes to cater to every taste.
“There are so few young designers doing glamorous party clothes at this level of craftsmanship,” Net-a-porter.com global buying director Elizabeth von der Goltz tells Vogue of how Halpern quickly became a Net team favourite. “The clothing is fresh and different, and I especially love the way he mixes all the different sequin patterns together in unexpected ways.”
The feeling is mutual: “Working with a partner like Net-a-porter.com is so fitting because I think their girl really gets how to wear this type of clothing,” Halpern shares. Indeed, since Halpern launched on the e-tailer in August, it has had a remarkably high sell-through rate – particularly in Europe and the Middle East – with the strapless top and trouser pairing the most popular buy.
“You do need a certain confidence to wear these amazing clothes. It’s about not being afraid and just embracing the look,” von der Goltz expands. “Our customers love fashion and are also incredibly confident women.”
